How can I doubt my doubts? (Pt II) Moments that Matter, Christian Questions
Understanding New Testament doubt can be tricky because there are marked differences in the kinds of doubt that are revealed. In a recent podcast, part two of our doubt series, we examined the kind of doubts that waver between options and doubts that are present because there’s no way out.
A good example of the wavering kind of doubt is the Apostle Peter walking on water. The wind and waves are fierce, yet Jesus tells Peter to come to him against all common sense and all natural law. Peter responds. He sees the wind, wavers and begins to sink. Jesus saves him then asks, “why did you doubt, you of little faith”.

Was Peter’s doubt really an example of having “little faith”? Could it in any way have been a constructive doubt? What about the doubt the women had, who went to Jesus’ tomb to anoint his body and found that the body was gone? What about Peter’s doubt after he had the vision that instructed him to eat the meat of unclean animals?
