Why do we doubt? In a recent podcast we observed that understanding why begins with understanding what. What am I doubting? Suppose we’re doubting ourselves. Such doubt could be a vital warning to avoid harmful choices. OR, self-doubt could be detrimental to handling specific challenges we may need to face. What if I’m doubting God? Am I actually doubting God or am I doubting what I think God should be doing based on my own perspective?

What’s behind my doubt? Considering biblical examples, helps this unfold. As we isolate doubt examples, we put them into two categories. Destructive doubts or constructive doubts. Eve’s doubt in the Garden of Eden was destructive. Satan’s temptation caused her to doubt the rules that God had previously established.
