Fear Not, You Are Mine: Remembering Who We Are at the Lord’s Table
This message from Isaiah 43 draws our attention away from self-assessment and activity, and back to identity—who we are because of what Christ has done. Before calling His people to endure trials, the Lord establishes what is already true: “I have redeemed you. I have called you by name. You are mine.” Set in the context of the Lord’s Table, the sermon highlights God’s tender care for weak and feeble sheep, Christ as our true Kinsman-Redeemer, and the promise that we pass through fire and waters without being consumed because Jesus has already endured judgment for us. The table proclaims not our worthiness, but God’s mercy—“I am He who blots out your transgressions for my own sake.”
