Since medieval times, pilgrims have journeyed to pray at the Shrine of Saint Edward the Confessor. Kings and queens are buried in dignity around him, hoping through Edward to draw closer to God.

For hundreds of years, pilgrims have journeyed to pray at his Shrine. Traditionally, a pilgrimage is a journey undertaken from one place to another to show devotion to a saint (someone esteemed as a particularly good example of what it means to be Christian). Pilgrims undertook these sometimes-dangerous journeys, giving up time, comfort, and money to become closer to God.
