God called out to Abraham one day and commanded him to take his only son, travel several days and sacrifice him as a burnt offering to God. What? Why? Remember, Isaac was THE promised child born to Sarah when she was 90! Abraham had waited 25 years for him to be born! How could God even think about undoing such a miraculous fulfillment of His own promise?
In a recent podcast we observed that when dealing with such apparent contradictions within the Bible, we need to focus on finding the whole truth instead of jumping to unstudied and shallow conclusions. The fact is, God did NOT intend for Abraham to murder his son as a show of loyalty, but how can we be sure?
