Does God ever tempt us? Contradictions Series, Moments that Matter, Christian Questions

In a recent podcast, we examined three potential Bible contradictions questions. The first; “Does God Tempt us?” Several scriptures seem to say yes. In the Lord’s prayer, we are taught to pray “lead us not into temptation.” For some this proves God can and will bring us to our hardest temptations. It’s as though we are begging God, please don’t lead me to those things that make me fail! Should we have to beg God to not tempt us?

The second question, Does God ever permit us to steal? The Ten Commandments plainly state “Thou shalt not steal” yet God instructed His people to take “spoils” from the Egyptians when He released them from slavery. How can God command the same people in two seemingly opposite directions?

The third question; Does God see and hear everything, everywhere? Several scriptures plainly state that nothing escapes God’s sight and hearing. Yet others show people leaving God’s presence, prophets reporting certain events to God and God sending messengers to verify specific circumstances. Does God see and hear all or does he need lots of help and support?
