Do Christians get to judge others? Christian Questions, Moments that Matter
As Christians, judging others can be risky business. Jesus plainly warned us against judging in Matthew 7:1-2: “Do not judge so that you will not be judged.” And yet the New Testament provides several examples where judgment is clearly necessary. So, what do we do?
In a recent podcast we observed that the big point for us to focus on is the fundamental need for self-examination before addressing others’ flaws. Without addressing personal faults, our judgments may easily become hypocritical and destructive.
Fortunately, to help us with this dilemma we not only have the words of Jesus, we have his personal actions as well. Jesus chose to not to retaliate against his persecutors. Instead, he warned them with wisdom and willingly gave his life as a sacrifice for them as well as for everybody else.
How can we make sure we aren't judging others in an inappropriate way? How can we be more like Jesus? For answers to these questions and supporting scriptures listen to the full podcast now.
