The tunnel, dating back to the 8th century BC, was ordered by King Hezekiah to bring fresh water into Jerusalem to withstand a siege by the Assyrian king, Sennacherib.

The tunnel, carved into solid rock, stretches half a kilometre from Gion Spring to the Pool of Siloam. Walking through Hezekiah's Tunnel is a must-do experience when visiting Jerusalem.
