I remember teasing this song on my Instagram years ago, it was simply a verse and a chorus at that point, I wasn't even sure I was going to make a full album of this style, little did I know I'd end up doing a whole journey of music across two albums navigating grief, disappointment, identity and hope that I would go on to title 'Night' and 'Day'. I kept revisiting this song and not knowing where to take it next, and it wasn't until I got together with the band in the studio that we were able to take this from a demo into a full song. I often find myself overthinking, wondering how the future will look and stuck in anxious thought patterns - but the phrase 'day by day' came to mind and it reminded me to just focus on taking one step at a time. There's been a lot of peace in choosing to do that, through the hard days and the easier days, it's the little choices that keep us on track.
