On a recent tour trip to Israel, many in the group were baptized. To be baptized in the same area where Jesus was baptized, where John the Baptist baptized, and where the disciples of Jesus baptized is a profoundly moving experience. It's also the same place where the Israelites crossed the Jordan River into the Promised Land, where Elijah split the river with his coat, where Elijah was taken up to heaven in a fiery chariot, and much more. Even though most who were baptized had already been baptized, many folks just wanted the experience of being baptized in the same place where Jesus was baptized.
