Am I listening to the angel? Moments that Matter, Christian Questions
God often communicated with Israel by sending messages through prophets and angels. Before Jesus’ birth, there was a 400-year prophetic and angelic silence from God. In a recent podcast we observed that the birth of Jesus was so important in God’s eyes that he sent angels to direct the surrounding events. When angles speak, all should listen!
After centuries of silence, just one angelic message would be pretty dramatic! Zacharias, the man who would be John the Baptist’s father, was struck speechless when he was doubted an angelic messenger. After his initial doubts, Zacharias did embrace the angel’s message and became an example of great faith.

A second angelic message would be awe inspiring and Mary received that message. She listened to the angel, even though his message would fundamentally change her life. Both of these angelic messages were tied to biblical prophecies. By listening to the angel’s messages, Zacharias and Mary were also listening to Bible prophecy.
