Margaret's search for answers about Madeleine and her brother Harold unravels a harrowing piece of history. The child migrant scheme, beginning as early as the 17th century, forcibly sent thousands of orphaned and vulnerable children across the ocean under the guise of a better life. Many of these children never saw their families again, leaving behind a legacy of silence and stolen identities. This exploration highlights the grim reality of a system that shipped unaccompanied youth to Australia, Canada, and beyond, treating them as little more than labourers.
