A Prayer to Wait Well When We Are in a Season of Uncertainty | Your Daily Prayer

You're waiting for direction.

Waiting for an opportunity.

Waiting for circumstances to change.

Waiting for clarity.

Waiting for an answer you thought would have come by now.

In today's Your Daily Prayer, Laura Bailey shares about meeting a woman in Puerto Rico who had prayed for more than a year for someone to repair her roof.

When the answer finally came, it looked nothing like she expected.

A group of people from South Carolina showed up to help.

At the same time, Laura realized she'd been growing frustrated with God after only a few weeks of praying about her own uncertain future.

That encounter reminded her of something many of us need to hear:

God's timing and methods rarely have to look like ours.

Habakkuk knew what it meant to wait amid tremendous uncertainty.

Habakkuk 3:16 says:

“Yet I will wait patiently…”

Waiting well doesn't mean we never feel frustrated.

It doesn't mean uncertainty doesn't make us anxious.

And it doesn't mean every prayer will be answered in the way or timeframe we're hoping for.

It means our confidence shifts from knowing what's going to happen to knowing the God we're waiting on.

So if you're somewhere between the prayer and the answer today, don't mistake waiting for abandonment.

Keep praying.

Remember God's past faithfulness.

Release the timeline you were trying to control.

And trust Him with what you cannot yet see.
