A Prayer for Single-Hearted Focus in a Busy Season | Your Daily Prayer
Your Daily Prayer
Do you ever feel like everything needs your attention at the same time?
Work.
Family.
Texts.
Appointments.
Church.
Housework.
Deadlines.
People.
Even good responsibilities can leave your heart feeling scattered.
In today's Your Daily Prayer, Rachel Wojo reflects on Jesus' conversation with Martha in Luke 10:41-42:
“Martha, Martha…you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one.”
Martha wasn't doing something evil.
She was serving.
She was being responsible.
She was trying to take care of what needed to be done.
But somewhere among all those good things, her heart became distracted from the most important thing: Jesus himself.
That's an important distinction for anyone walking through a genuinely busy season.
The answer isn't always making your calendar empty.
Some seasons really are full.
Instead, Rachel encourages us to cultivate a protected heart in the middle of a busy life—choosing before the day scatters us where our attention ultimately belongs.
And that changes how we see the people around us too.
People aren't interruptions to the important work.
Loving God and loving people is important work.
So before another busy day carries you away, ask:
What has my attention?
What has my heart?
And have I become so focused on projects that I've stopped noticing people?
🙏 Today's Prayer:
“Jesus, gather the scattered pieces of my attention and pull them back to You. When many things demand my attention, help me remember what matters most.”
