“God, show me what needs to change in me.”
Psalm 139:23-24 gives us one of Scripture's most vulnerable prayers:
“Search me, O God, and know my heart… see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
In today's Your Daily Prayer, Christine F. Perry shares how even good intentions—helping people, serving others, staying available, and trying to meet everyone's needs—can become unhealthy when our priorities get out of order.
Sometimes we don't recognize what's happening until someone else speaks up.
Sometimes what looks like helpfulness can be tangled with people-pleasing, pride, or a need to feel needed.
That's why we need God to search what we cannot always see clearly ourselves.
And here's the good news: conviction isn't condemnation.
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” — Romans 8:1
God doesn't reveal areas that need to change so we can live buried in shame. He lovingly leads us toward repentance, wisdom, freedom, and greater Christlikeness.
