Prayer For Peace During Times of War

Loving God, You are the Father of all mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction.<br />
You, Lord God, are the creator of the universe, who is concerned like a Father would, about every creature You have created. <br />
<br />
Heavenly Father, Listen to the cry that rises from every corner of this fragile earth, from our human family torn by violent conflict.<br />
We pray for your intervention in these crucial times, where nations are at war against each other.<br />
Lord God, violence is never the answer. It destroys Your good creation and it grieves Your heart when people resort to it.<br />
<br />
<br />
We earnestly pray that You send your Holy Spirit into the hearts of these men, so that they may hate war and love peace.<br />
<br />
Lord, we ask that You arise and put an end to all violence. <br />
Extinguish pain and misery wherever it is found, and spread Your gift of grace and peace.<br />
There are those who have taken up arms in anger or revenge, or even in the cause of justice.<br />
Grant them the grace and mercy so that they convert themselves and move to the path of peaceful dialogue instead of violence.<br />
<br />
Let forgiveness reign and end the bloodshed.<br />
Grant the wisdom to the leaders of the world, that they see beyond the boundaries of race, religion, and nation.<br />
Let them understand the common humanity that makes us all your children, and brothers and sisters to one another.<br />
<br />
Almighty Father, there are innocent people, who live in the shadow of war and terror, especially the frightened children, Be their shelter and strength, their haven and hope.<br />
<br />
We also pray for those who have already lost their lives as victims of human cruelty and chemical warfare.<br />
<br />
Open wide your arms and enfold them all in the embrace of your compassion, healing, and everlasting life.<br />
Grant us peace, O good and gracious God, that peace which, as your son Jesus Christ told us, is a peace which the world cannot give.<br />
Lord God, No one is a stranger to you, and no one is ever far from your loving care.<br />
In your kindness, watch over refugees and victims of war, Those separated from their loved ones,<br />
Young people who are lost, And those who have left home or who have run away from home.<br />
Bring them back safely to the place where they long to be, <br />
<br />
<br />
And help us always to show your kindness, to strangers and to all in need.<br />
According to Your good and gracious will, remove the causes and occasions of this war, and restore peace among the nations.<br />
<br />
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord. <br />
Amen.<br />
