Is it New Age or is it Christian?

In this clip, I demonstrate how it's possible for New Age and New Thought books and teachings to sound Christian. These books were a big part of my life when I was in the New Age, and I truly thought it was 'Higher Spirituality' and 'true Christianity'. Part of the major problem with books like this is they *sound Christian*. They use Christian terms and even quote... or *mis*quote... Scripture. If someone isn't grounded in what Scripture actually says it's difficult for them to grasp what the issue is.

Yes, it's perfectly fine to read books other than the Bible as long as Scripture is the *foundation.* If someone understands and reads the Bible regularly, there's no reason they won't be able to read other books because they're grounded in the discernment of Scripture. God gifts other Christians with gifts of wisdom and teaching. So people who say not to read *any* other books and JUST read the Bible need to consider what they're suggesting. Not only is this unrealistic, but isn't how God works. Plenty of wonderful Christian men and women have written books about Christianity. Nobody at any point would equate them with Scripture. So as long as you're grounded in Scripture, there's no reason at all someone can't enjoy a book that's not the Bible.
The Christian books that I read are from some of the most solid and influential Christian teachers that I've ever known. I *DID* cherry-pick on purpose. The whole intent was to show the parallel between how New Age/Thought authors *sound* Christian when they're really not. Someone well versed in Scripture would easily be able to tell something would be off in these New Age books if they were read in context, which is part of my point. We see people identifying as Christian often (including some of these New Age authors!) that are really holding New Age beliefs, and some don't
