The Misplacement of Money...

Spending all of our income on ourselves in pursuit of fulfillment. To the detriment of our generosity is like regularly committing adultery. Instead of sharing it where he intended, however, we ate our fill and then we use what was left over to buy nicer homes, nicer cars, vacations, private schools until there was nothing left to share. the word that comes to mind through those passages is misplacement. all of those examples in the passages you read are examples of how we misplace hope, affection, what will bring us happiness, the statement that the misuse of money is analogous to adultery is because both of them are examples of pursuing happiness in the wrong places by taking control of things that are not ours.
This is from our great conversation with Greg Baumer (co-author of True Riches: What Jesus Really Said About Money and Your Heart).
