Koinonia Seminar: Speaking of Human Flourishing
Westminster Abbey
Held in conjunction with the Diocese of London, the Koinonia Seminars are a series of online seminar talks aimed at theology professionals, clergy and ordinands whilst also being accessible to those interested in theology.
The seminar today features Nadia Marais, a senior lecturer in systemic theology at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, an ordained minister and a Mandela Rhodes Scholar. She is a visiting scholar at Princeton Theological Seminary and a fellow at the Centre of Theological Inquiry in Princeton.
Her research focusses on human flourishing. Her book Homo Florens explores how different contemporary discourses on salvation shape how theologians speak about what human flourishing is. She makes use of three major discourses, each of which lead to subtle but important differences in the rhetoric of flourishing that we (those who are part of the Christian faith tradition) use.
