Churches in China have experienced a recent wave of persecution with churches banned, pastors arrested, and church members detained and harassed. COVID has also drastically forced the church back to the homes. In the midst of these challenges, a movement of God has been quietly growing among the house church with a heart for the nations. A prayer movement for world missions has been gaining momentum. The evangelistic fervour and the explosive church planting movement of the Chinese church under persecution are patiently moving towards the day of a global missionary movement awakening. When the time is ripe, the church in China will be sending a wave of young Chinese missionaries to the ends of the earth. What can we learn from what God is doing with the Chinese church?<br />

David Ro is the Executive Director of Arise Asia 2023 and is the chair of the Asia 2022 Congress. He is the Regional Director for the Lausanne Movement in East Asia. After several years of pastoral ministry, David joined OMF to reach urban students and young people in East Asia. He previously served as the Director of the Christy Wilson Center for World Missions and Adjunct Professor of Church Planting and Missions at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He has graduate degrees from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and Peking University and a Ph.D. from the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies on the missions movement emerging from urban China.<br />
