The Many Colors of Breastmilk

Did you know breastmilk can actually change colors?
It’s true — and most of the time, it’s completely normal.

Breastmilk can appear yellow, white, green, or even pink depending on the stage of lactation, your diet, or what’s happening in your body.
Yellow or golden milk is often colostrum, rich in antibodies. Mature milk usually looks white or creamy.
Green milk can show up after eating lots of leafy greens or taking supplements like spirulina.
Pink or reddish milk is often caused by a small amount of blood from cracked nipples or a tiny capillary — usually harmless.

If milk ever looks brown or you’re experiencing pain, it’s always wise to check with your provider. Otherwise, changing breastmilk color is just another reminder of how incredible the breastfeeding body truly is 🤍
