A Prayer When a Close Relationship Changes | Your Daily Prayer
Has an important relationship changed in a way you were not ready for?
A mentor may retire. A leader may move on. A friendship may shift. A parent, teacher, coach, manager, or spiritual guide may no longer be present in the same way.
Transitions like these can bring grief, uncertainty, and fear about what comes next.
In 2 Kings 2, Elisha faced the painful departure of Elijah, the mentor he had faithfully followed. Rather than allowing the loss to end his calling, Elisha asked for the strength to carry forward what he had received.
“Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit.” — 2 Kings 2:9
Today’s prayer asks God to help us honor the relationships that shaped us, release what is changing, and step courageously into the new responsibilities He places before us.
The relationship may change.
The role may change.
But God’s presence remains.
