Once for All: The Sacrifice That Opened the Way
This exhortation from Hebrews 9 contrasts the old covenant tabernacle—its regulations, repeated sacrifices, and closed Most Holy Place—with the finished work of Christ, who entered the true sanctuary in heaven by His own blood. It emphasizes that there is only one way back to the Father: Jesus Himself, “the way, the truth, and the life,” whose once-for-all sacrifice actually purifies the conscience and opens the way into God’s presence. As the church takes the Lord’s Supper, we remember not a repeated ritual, but a single, decisive act in history—Christ’s blood shed once for sinners—by which our sins are washed away and we become beneficiaries of His eternal redemption.
