Was Phillip miraculously transported by the spirit? Christian Questions, Moments that Matter
There was no shortage of miracles in the New Testament. When looking at this particular experience with Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch, it’s easy, almost natural to assume that it was just another miraculous event. But was it?
In a recent podcast we observed that Philip was associated with Stephen, the first Christian martyr. After Stephen’s death, Philip went to Samaria to preach and was then told by an angel to go down a desert road where he met the Ethiopian eunuch.
God’s spirit guided Philip to witness to this foreigner who was reading from Isaiah. Philip used the very scriptures he was reading to show him who Jesus was. The man responded by being baptized. Next the scriptures say that God’s spirit “snatched” Philip away from the eunuch.
