Previously, we followed Joseph as he was betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, and taken down to Egypt. There, he was purchased by Potiphar, a powerful official, and through his steadfast faith in God, Joseph rose to become Chief Steward of Potiphar’s household. But just as his fortunes seemed to rise, he was falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife and thrown into prison. It would have been easy to fall into despair, but Joseph refused to let his circumstances define him. Instead, he clung to his faith and made himself useful even behind bars, eventually becoming the warden’s trusted assistant. While in prison, Joseph encountered Pharaoh’s butler and baker, both of whom had troubling dreams. With God’s help, Joseph interpreted the dreams accurately—one man was restored, the other executed. Joseph asked the butler to remember him, but he was forgotten… until two years later, when Pharaoh himself had a disturbing dream. The butler finally remembered the Hebrew prisoner. What followed was a divinely orchestrated turn of events that not only changed Joseph’s life but set the stage for the salvation of an entire nation.
