It's all about perspective đź’ #choosejoy #gratitude #christianliving

I want my life to be marked by gratitude, not grumbling. Scripture tells us that when we do things without grumbling, we are lights in the world that point other people to God (Philippians 2:14-15).

If I want my kids to be joyful, grateful, and content, then that’s what I need to model for them. I need to reframe the way I think and talk: I am not a victim of my circumstances but rather, I GET to steward the responsibilities and blessings God has given me.

My best hack for living this out is to give my mind something productive to do while my hands tend to “mundane” tasks like dishes or laundry—that way it’s not tempted to turn to grumbling. Sometimes I’ll pray, sometimes I’ll practice memorizing Scripture, sometimes I’ll listen to something that edifies me or makes me think.

One of my go-to’s is @hillsdalecollege. They have a ton of FREE online classes on a variety of theological (and other) topics, and they’ve added rich insight to my study of God’s Word. Lately I’ve been listening to the “Rise and Fall of the Roman Republic” and it’s been fascinating to learn about the history proceeding the Roman Empire, especially as I’ve been reading through the book of Acts. It’s self-paced, so I love that I can listen whenever I have little pockets of time. Here is a link: bit.ly/hillsdaleedukaci
