Loved as the Son Is Loved (Lord's Supper)
In this Lord’s Supper exhortation from John 17, we’re led into Christ’s high priestly prayer, where He speaks of the hour of the cross as the planned climax of redemptive history and prays not for the world, but for those the Father has given Him. The meditation emphasizes that Jesus’ blood was shed for a definite people whose salvation and sanctification are certain, that none of His suffering was wasted, and that believers are drawn into a staggering union—loved by the Father even as He loves the Son. As we take the bread and cup, we remember that we were specifically on Christ’s heart, set apart by His body and blood, swept into His glory, and invited to keep gazing at the cross where God’s love is most fully and visibly declared.
