Faith Under Friction | Pastor Joseph Anthony
Sheryl Brady
In life, friction is inevitable. It’s that force of resistance we feel when life doesn’t move as smoothly as we’d like—when you’re doing well, then suddenly there’s a new challenge. What do you do when your faith comes under friction? Friction isn’t just a test; it’s God’s way of shaping you, building spiritual muscle, and refining your purpose. Jesus didn’t pull Job out of his struggle or the three Hebrew boys from the fire; He endured it with them to show His power through their perseverance. The greater your friction, the greater your purpose. You can't always pray away what God is using to grow you.
Just like the paralyzed man in Mark 2, when you’re overwhelmed by constant battles, you can feel stuck—paralyzed by the weight of the friction. But sometimes, you need community to break through for you. When the man’s friends tore off the roof, they were doing more than just helping him see Jesus—they were breaking through every limitation, every barrier, every roof that was keeping him from his miracle. Jesus sees your faith under friction and responds to it. Don’t just endure the friction; let it lead you to the breakthrough.
