PASTOR CLAIMS: "America Belongs to Christians, Not Hindus, Muslims, or Jews"

Texas pastor Joel Webbon has sparked controversy by claiming non-Christians should have "no place in leadership in America." On his podcast "Right Response Ministries," the Christian nationalist argued the Founding Fathers intended America as an "Anglo-Protestant project."

While colonial America did initially have religious tests for officeholders, these restrictions began disappearing in the early 19th century. The Constitution explicitly prohibits religious tests for federal office in Article VI.
